Join us for an evening of art, music and spoken word to celebrate URBANO’s opening of The Red Room: Making Music Out of Life, a documentary project by Christina Wegs.
Opening Reception Friday April 16, 6-8pm.
In 2008-2009, four young musicians at the Hyde Square Task Force came together to create an album of original music about their lives. Lewis Hine Documentary Fellow Christina Wegs documented their journey in photographs, audio and video.
The project is a celebration of the transformative power of music-making, and of the unique voices of these four talented young artists.
This project was produced with the support of the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, The Philanthropic Initiative and the Hyde Square Task Force. Thanks to the URBANO Project Gallery for generously hosting this exhibit. Thanks also to the Berklee College of Music and the Music and Youth Initiative, for their support of the music studio at the Hyde Square Task Force.

Fundred Week is fast-approaching at Urbano. Urbano is a regional collection center for the national art as activism project started by Mel Chin. It has the goal of raising awareness and funds to clean the lead-contaminated soil in New Orleans, which is a problem that many areas of Boston also face. The biodiesel Sous Terre armoured truck is coming on May 1st to Urbano to pick up all of our Fundreds.
